5 Minutes With… Tom Mooney

TOM MOONEY
Marketing Manager

Tom started with Apricity in 2019 as he neared the completion of his marketing studies at the University of Wollongong.  As a recent graduate, Tom brings a valuable understanding of digital marketing as well as a strong willingness to learn. He has a love of sport, particularly cricket and rugby union, with involvement in the local rugby union club as a volunteer coach. He thoroughly enjoys working as part of a team to create something bigger as a whole in both a sporting and professional setting.

Tom has grown up in Bowral since the age of five and has loved every moment, he appreciates the community and lifestyle the Southern Highlands has to offer.

THE NICKNAME PEOPLE KNOW ME FOR…

These days, I’m often referred to as The Golden Child around the Apricity office, however, growing up I was always Moons or Moonman. At home, it is a different story as ThomASS has always been the go-to nickname.

IN A NUTSHELL, MY JOB IS TO…

Facilitate the daily marketing activities that help achieve our overall marketing strategy. My area of the marketing team has a heavy focus on the website and digital components of marketing in addition to using our CRM for reporting and creating targeted campaigns.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I’VE LEARNT IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS IS…

To relax a little more and realise what is really important and worth my attention. Being a tad OCD, I love structure and plans but relaxing with this slightly has made me a lot happier and only stress about what truly matters.

MY FIRST JOB OUT OF SCHOOL WAS…

As a Kitchenhand at Milton Park Country House Hotel & Spa which was a glorified name for a dish pig. I learned the basics of cooking and baking here which I have carried with me to this day. I also got to work with four great mates from school for three years so every shift would always be enjoyable, however I will never miss the smell of cooking oil on my clothes.

IF I HAD THE DAY OFF TODAY, YOU WOULD FIND ME…

Heading out for a hit of golf first thing in the morning and grabbing a great burger for lunch. To finish the day I’d have to have some Mexican food of sorts and watch a movie. Essentially, I’d build my day around food and fill in the blanks from there.

MY FAVOURITE BOOK/MOVIE/SONG IS…

My favourite book is Tribe of Mentors by Tim Ferris while my favourite movie was a recent viewing called The Gentlemen. I love a wide variety of music but I’d say Jervis Campbell would be a favourite artist, particularly his song Let You Love Me.

MY FAVOURITE THING ABOUT APRICITY IS…

The people. Without a shadow of a doubt, the people at Apricity are what makes it such a great company and an absolute joy to work at every day. The Apricity Walking Club is a close second.
