A proud Aucklander and family man, Nick is a father to two young children. When he’s not in the office, he’s relaxing in front of the TV (whenever I can get control of the remote control).
In my working capacity, I’ve always been known as ‘Nick’ or ‘Channy’. Since joining Apricity, I’ve found that anyone named Michael in Australia is actually called ‘Mick’ and to my ear that is bloody confusing as I always hear ‘Nick’. So, I’ve come to realise that my Australian colleagues call me ‘Nicko’.
Oh, I’m also known as ‘Spiderchan’ in some circles!
Find a way to help businesses with their cash flow. Most of my working career has been with the banks where I specialised in finding solutions for working capital. It’s always interesting for me to do a deep dive in to a business and understand its supply chain, but I could never get my head around why security is required to secure bank funding. At Apricity, I can put working capital solutions in place that are ultimately repaid by… guess what… their receivables!!
To never underestimate or prejudge the skills and knowledge that others can bring to the table. You may head in to a conversation thinking that you have all the answers but make sure that you are open to what others might have to say as well. Likewise, if you have an opinion about something, be brave enough to speak up and share your thoughts and ideas.
Portering at a hotel in Auckland. It was a heck of a lot of fun – meeting and interacting with international tourists.
Chasing my kids around the house or down at the park and then watching some league when they are tucked up in bed.
There is something that absolutely fascinates me about Las Vegas stories. It could be about the original gangsters and mobs that created the town. Or a story about the wily minds of card sharks. Or even a rom com. The ultimate Las Vegas movie for me would be a mix between Bugsy, Ocean’s 11, The Hangover and 21.
We are a tight knit team spread across Australia and New Zealand with a whole heap of ideas to help each other out. No matter which part of the business we work in, we all feel comfortable enough to pick up the phone and have a yarn with anybody else in the Apricity family.
