What have you gained from working at Apricity?
Working at Apricity has given me amazing knowledge in terms of finance and more specifically short-term funding. I came to Apricity from a company where I was based in accounting and so I have learned an incredible amount regarding how businesses can use and benefit from short-time finance.

What are three career lessons you’ve learned thus far?
The importance of working in a team. You can get great results when you have discussions and work with a larger team.
My improvement of commercial acumen. I have better learnt how to understand different organisations, so we can make the best decisions for our clients and within our own work. I have vastly improved my analytical skills, especially when it comes to analysing bigger businesses.

Where’s your favourite place in the world?
My favourite place in the world would have to be home in Sri Lanka. I love being home with my family during my holiday period. We live in the city very close to the beach near a lot of my family. It is my very favourite time, getting together with my friends and family when I am back in Sri Lanka.

What is your favourite family tradition?
Hindu New Year is celebrated in April and is a special time of year for my family. It is tradition to be gifted money within your own family so that is definitely a bonus of the celebration.

When are you happiest?
I am happiest when I’m out exploring new places and I really enjoy camping. I recently went on a 10-day trip around the Northern Territory which I loved. We saw deserts and it was incredibly interesting seeing what goes on in that part of Australia. I’m hoping to do another 10-day trip to Western Australia in a couple of months – I would love to see that part of Australia next!

What characteristic do you most admire in others?
Helpfulness and kindness are very important qualities. Moving, travelling and working in Australia, these are both things I have really come to appreciate and I really admire people that are willing to share their knowledge and experience.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Whatever happens in life, it is happening for a reason, so keep calm. I believe that continuing to worry about things will hold you back in life.
