Andrew Collins, our Head of Sales and Relationships – North Queensland, is a regular volunteer at Meals on Wheels St Andrew’s, Townsville. For Andy, this is a cause close to his heart as Meals on Wheels is a service his mother relies on for her food deliveries in London, United Kingdom.

Andy is a strong advocate for anyone with some spare time to take part in deliveries for Meals on Wheels as they are reliant on volunteers to serve their clients. For Andy, the highlight of his involvement is:

“Engaging with the local elderly community, giving them friendship and company. To know that there are people out there who care for you can be tough for some elderly residents with no local family. The 10-minute chat they get with their Meals on Wheels delivery is truly the highlight of their day and that is a special feeling.”

About Meals on Wheels

St Andrew’s Meals on Wheels provides an important service to many elderly and disabled clients and carers residing in the Townsville district. Many new referrals result from clients who have been discharged from hospital, or self-referrals from people in the community who are no longer able to prepare meals.

The service enables many elderly members of our community to remain in their own homes, thus enhancing their independence and quality of life. In some instances, access to the service may only be a temporary measure, offering assistance until they have recuperated.
