With over a decade in senior positions within New Zealand and Australian banks and finance companies, Mornet joined Apricity Finance in 2018 as Head of Credit & Risk. His background in managing financially distressed businesses for secured creditors, with the turnaround as the primary objective, has seen him work with both small and large businesses across various industries including ASB, Kiwibank and Heartland Bank LTD.
Mornet has a deep understanding of banking and has led a variety of teams including specialist recovery, collections, turnaround, internal asset review and credit portfolio management teams. He brings more than 20 years’ experience in the banking industry, and a wealth of experience to credit risk management decisions, analytics, reporting and strategy. He is also a board member on RITANZ, the professional body for insolvency practitioners in NZ.
Hailing from South Africa, Mornet completed a law degree at the University of Pretoria.
A father to three young children, Mornet counts kayak fishing, family and football as his personal interests (although not necessarily in that order).

Winston Churchill, Ricky Gervais, Ryan Reynolds, Albert Einstein and Lionel Messi.
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
My phone, a sun umbrella and a chilli bin full of food and drink!
What is your favourite holiday destination and why?
Coromandel in the North Island of New Zealand. Beautiful beaches, great fishing and perfect weather in the summer.
What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?
You can't please everyone all the time, and it's OK to say "no".
If money was no object, what would you do all day?
Travelling in luxury and exploring the world with my family.
