About the day
The Longest Day is an endurance golf marathon designed to test your skill, strength and stamina. The challenge where the aim is to successfully complete your chosen number of holes (36, 54 or 72) from dusk to dawn and raise funds for Cancer Council’s research, prevention and support services. While it can be undertaken on any day in December, the official day is the 14th for the most sunlight hours.
Apricity’s Longest Day
On the 14th of December 2020, Apricity had five staff take on the challenge with John Cummins from Society One joining the team at Bowral Golf Club, located near the Apricity head office in the Southern Highlands.
Bowral Golf Club and the club professional, Kevin Kenny, generously donated the facilities and course access for the day, free of charge, to facilitate Apricity’s attempt at The Longest Day. A sincere thanks for this kind gesture.
Teeing off at 5am Ben Rutherford and Tom Mooney successfully completed all 72-holes, totalling some 35km along the way. Following them was Linden Toll, paired with John Cummins as well as Nick Reinhard and Michael Leahy who completed the 54-hole challenge.
Our goal was to raise $10,000 for this worthwhile cause and, with the generosity of our network, we exceeded that goal reaching $10,819. Thank you to all those who donated.
